Designer Leslie Pitts was inspired to create Baby Chai after researching the cloth diaper market and realizing there was a need for higher-design cloth diapers that were luxurious and functional with beautiful packaging.

Although many cloth diapers use polyester, Baby Chai’s bamboo diapers set themselves apart from others with the soft bamboo/cotton velour outside and the bamboo/cotton fleece interior. Baby Chai’s signature elephant label on the front and back as well as the matte logo snaps make for a beautiful presentation, perfect for baby showers and gift-giving.

We are so sorry if you have had any trouble with these diapers. Baby Chai diapers are a bamboo and cotton blend, and as with any diaper made out of natural fibers, they need to be "prepped". This can be done a couple of different ways. One was is to wash the diapers on HOT water 3-5 times to strip the diaper of any natural oils in the fiber. A quicker version of this method is to boil the diapers twice for 10-15 minutes, making sure to use fresh water each time.

These methods can be used to prep any diapers made out of natural fibers such as organic cotton, bamboo or hemp.
The diapers will reach their maximum absorbency after 7-10 washes.

I just tried the diaper today and my daughter was in it for two hours and it leaked. It is a beautiful diaper, but she leaked in it.

I agree with the previous poster. I wanted to love these diapers as they are very cute and very soft, and I heard great reviews on them from a lady at a La Leche meeting. However, they leaked or had a blowout each time we used them. After 3 times in a row, we decided that they were not the diaper for us. We are having much better luck with Bum Genius 4.0s.

I bought these last week and mine work great! I was told to boil them as a prep and that's just what I did. I've used them 3 times now and not once have they leaked. Bamboo seems to be very absorbent and like most diapers has to be prepped to reach the max of it's absorbency. My daughter has worn this diaper to up to four hours with a single leak :) I have to say I was a little worried after I bought and read the reviews (I bought at the local diaper shop) but I'm quite please with it and surprised!

You do have to prep them in order for them to work. The boiling strips the fabric of its natural oils and allows it to become absorbent. With that said, these diapers are excellent. By far my favorite!

I love these diapers because they are very, very cute and soft. But what I do not know is if one is expected to put a plastic cover over them. I bought them for my granddaughter, and when we tried them, they get wet all the way through. My daughter insists they need a plastic cover, but the reviews here suggest that if just boil them they become absorbent enough to hold everything in? Thanks for clarifying this for me! If they do need plastic covers, too bad! Where can I get some cute ones?
